The Director, E-Commerce Merchandising is accountable for building, leading, and developing a team of Category Managers to implement category strategies in support of the overall e-commerce merchandising strategy, through effective assortment, pricing, promotions, and placements.

Job Description

Lead overall e-commerce merchandising strategy
•    Utilize market research (including category, competitor and customer information) to create the e-commerce assortment strategy to deliver the e-commerce P&L
•    Build category strategies to drive the business end-to-end, including assortment, pricing, promotions, and placements 
•    Own all supplier relationships in collaboration with national team 
•    Coach, mentor, and develop a team of Category Managers through effective planning and supplier partnerships
•    Manage assortment listings, including shared national SKUs and online-only SKUs, and substitutions, based on customer needs to achieve category targets
•    Implement pricing and promotions in collaboration with national team to achieve margin and mix objectives
•    Work with merchandising services team on SKU-level data requirements
•    Work with forecasting and replenishment team on buying budgets and forecasts 
•    Work with marketing team on promotions strategy, ad planning, and site / app placements (including supplier-funded promotions) 
Own category management budget
•    Responsible for management of category performance to deliver the e-commerce P&L, including sales, margin, shrink, supplier funding, profit, and market share
•    Conduct analysis to inform future buying and promotions decisions
•    Communicate and report e-commerce category performance and financial results

Job Requirements

•    Minimum of 12 years experience working in Category Management for E-commerce or Retail
•    Experience purchasing and merchandising 
•    Experience building and leading high performance teams
•    Strategic thinking with deep understanding of e-commerce and retail industry
•    Solid organizational, interpersonal, time management and problem solving skills
•    Experience using SAP beneficial but not required
•    Bachelors Degree or a combination of relevant work experience
