Reporting to the Head of Operations, the focus of the Training Specialist will be to train, develop and evaluate new and existing Teammates, modify SOP’s, create, and update training material as the business evolves. Furthermore, provide guidance and leadership to Training Champions, to facilitate best practices within the CFC.

The purpose of this role is to conduct end to end operational training in line with Sobeys Inc. workplace guidelines and policies to ensure all Operational Teammates are competent.

This individual will be instrumental in driving the standards as they demonstrate exceptional work ethic and a positive demeanor in line with Voila by Sobeys company core values. Job Description



  • Focus on training that demonstrates high quality performance, dedication to safety, consistency and accuracy delivered in a customer focused way.
  • Develop SOP’s and training aids to assist/elevate the training program as the needs of the business dictates.
  • Provide practical training to ensure teammates are well trained to perform at a high level of excellence.
  • Liaise with back-stage Labour Plan team to obtain the necessary headcount, in order to recruit and train new staff.
  • Provide in class Orientation and facilitate training for Health and Safety and Food Safety to all new and existing teammates.
  • Provide clear communication between relevant departments when required including Operations Management, Head of Operations, and backstage employees.
  • Ensure all team members follow and demonstrate Sobeys workplace standards, practices, and training content in a consistent manner.
  • Accurately document and track new hire competency through performance evaluations and training check list(s)
  • Be a member of a dynamic team to refine and improve training procedures
  • Seek Process Improvements within the operations and streamline new processes in a defined, accurate and collaborative manner.
  • Complete appropriate documentation in a confidential manner
  • In conjunction with the Health and Safety and Operations Management, work dynamically to ensure risk assessments, safe working systems, procedures and policies are in place
  • Provide feedback to the Head of Operations and Operational Leaders, to aid the development of new and existing team members.

Job Requirements


  • Experience training colleagues or supervising new staff
  • Knowledge of all processes and roles as they pertain to Delivery
  • Enthusiasm and passion for sharing skills and knowledge
  • Works well under pressure
  • Committed to excellent customer service
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Excel is considered an asset.
  • Posses’ Excellent judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise a diverse workload.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Goal focused with demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks/projects in a fast-paced environment.
