Maintenance Team Lead

  • Coordinate the maintenance of the building services to maintain continuity of operations, minimize disruption to organizational activities and continually improve the sustainability of building operations. 
  • Test and inspect building fire system, generators, dock levelers, trailer restraints, dock doors, HVAC system, and electrical systems to ensure effective operation
  • Document building and equipment inspections and maintain accurate records using the CMMS program
  • Develop and monitor Preventative Maintenance Programs
  • Make appropriate heating, cooling, ventilation and lighting adjustments using the Building Automation System (BAS) software
  • Conduct minor repairs to dock levelers, trailer restraints, dock doors, heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing and lighting systems
  • Work with the Maintenance Manager to ensure compliance with regulatory codes, manufacturer’s requirements, industry practices and company Policies and Procedures
  • Procure, arrange for and direct building and equipment maintenance/repair, including parts and services purchased
  • Ensure building and equipment complies with applicable codes and safety standards
  • Co-ordinate daily activities of maintenance staff and third party contractors and ensure Service Level Agreements are met
  • Monitor company maintaining MHE and help as required
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment as per Company requirements of the 5S Principles
  • Fill in and maintain all log sheets as required
  • Review and understand all operating and service manuals for all equipment within the building
  • All other duties as required or assigned by management

Job Description

• Direct, plan, organize, assign, supervise, and evaluate operating and maintenance repair work to machinery and building electrical/ mechanical systems, completed by operators and selected service contractors
• Administer contracts for building supplies and services
• Manage repairs and maintenance of all equipment to ensure all warranty needs are met
• Manage the capital and operating expenses for maintenance within budgets and forecasts
• Review and ensure compliance with regulatory codes, manufacturer’s requirements, industry practices, company policies/ procedures, and operating performances targets
• Procure, arrange for and direct building and equipment maintenance/ repair, including parts and services purchased
• Develop and coordinate preventative maintenance schedules and repair activities with Witron Automation Maintenance Team
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment as per company requirements
• Other duties as required

Job Requirements

• Proficient use of the Microsoft Office Suite
• Effective communication skills (both oral and written)
• Excellent mechanical, analytical, and mathematical skills
• Comfortable and flexible operating in a team environment

• Database and spreadsheet
• Understanding of grocery products distribution as a whole

• Knowledge and experience in maintenance and repair for various types of machinery as well as plant material handling and automation equipment
• Experience in general technical troubleshooting of building equipment and hands-on operating, diagnostics and repair

• Three to five years supervisory experience
• Two or more years of experience in a warehouse maintenance environment
• Experience in a 24/7 automated  retail grocery distribution centre

• Retail support centre 
• Physical work including frequent bending, lifting, and reaching 
• Occasionally lift over 88 lbs 
• Two person lift required for weights exceeding 50 lbs 
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time 
• Possible exposure to extreme temperatures 
• Alertness to other people and vehicles 
• Various shifts including evenings and weekends
