Job Description

Transportation Team Lead is responsible for all aspects of the trucking operations; drivers and equipment and dispatch to customers. Adherence to applicable provincial and federal regulatory standards is strictly enforced. Actively contributes to a positive and productive working environment.

Job Requirements

Key Business Functions, Responsibilities, and Accountabilities

 

  • Determines the Manpower requirements and staff his/her shift appropriately reacting to any situation affecting his/her planning (Holidays, BOGOs, unplanned events, etc.)
  • Schedule all departure times to ensure shipping staff have time to prepare loads to be shipped
  • Responsible for updating all deliveries in EXE
  • Monitors and reports the daily productivity information and on time service.
  • Responsible for all customer service issues related to deliveries
  • Explains any variances on productivity
  • Schedules equipment maintenance within Provincial Legislated requirements and ensure the safe operation of all Transport vehicles
  • Work with replenishment to ensure all haul back opportunities are maximized
  • Ensure all haul backs are received into the RSC on schedule
  • Planning, execution, follow up and communication to all wholesale customers
  • Recruits, train, coach, counsel and discipline as required
  • Demonstrates outstanding leadership, with a clear vision and consistent sense of direction and serves as a role model for employees
  • Ensures that system and tools are being used as instructed
  • Reviews all Delivery Sheets and Trip Books
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment as per company requirements
  • Other duties as required

Technical Skills Required:

 

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of CAMS, JDA, XATA, TMT

 

Educational and Working Experience Required

  • Minimum of High School diploma and 2 years of experience in a warehouse or transportation company, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated successful experience leading warehouse or transportation employees

 

Working Conditions

 

  • Retail support centre
  • Physical work including frequent bending, lifting, and reaching
  • Occasionally lift over 88 lbs
  • Two person lift required for weights exceeding 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Possible exposure to extreme temperatures
  • Alertness to other people and vehicles
  • Various shifts including evenings and weekends
