Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities and we are always looking for bright new talent to join our team! We currently have an opportunity for a Specialist, National Transportation Business Development to join our National Transportation team. Be part of the sales team that will build and grow our National Managed Inbound Freight Program.

Here’s where you’ll be focusing:

As a key member of our National Transportation team, you will lead supplier negotiations to transition freight from supplier-delivered to Sobeys’ Managed Inbound Freight (MIF) program. Your role will focus on securing pickup allowances, expanding program participation, and optimizing inbound freight operations.

In this highly collaborative, fast-paced environment, you will work closely with suppliers, carriers, finance, replenishment, and category management teams to drive efficiency, cost savings, and service improvements.

  • Lead negotiations with existing and new suppliers to establish pickup allowances and onboard them into the MIF program.
  • Analyze and procure carrier pricing for new MIF opportunities, ensuring profitability and competitive rates.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships, providing support throughout the onboarding and transitioning.
  • Identify and evaluate expansion opportunities by assessing carrier capacity, supplier networks, and regional feasibility.
  • Utilize data analytics and reporting tools to track profitability, supplier conversion, and operational performance.
  • Partner with Finance to manage the MIF sales budget and evaluate cost-saving opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Category Management and Replenishment teams to engage suppliers and optimize inbound logistics.

What you have to offer:

  • 3-5  years of experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, replenishment, or category management.
  • Experience working with large retailers and suppliers in a supply chain or logistics capacity.
  • Strong background in freight negotiations, supplier engagement, and transportation cost optimization.
  • Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS) and modern logistics technology.
  • Proven ability to analyze financial data, with experience in P&L management.
  • Relevant industry certifications (P.Log, CITT, CPIM, PMAC, or ERP) preferred.

At Sobeys we require our teammates to have the ability to adhere to a hybrid work model that requires your presence at one of our office locations at least three days per week. This requirement is integral to our commitment to team collaboration and the overall success of our office culture.
