About the Sobeys CPA Training Program

 

Our three-year CPA Training Program offers talented accounting graduates the opportunity to learn the business while working towards your CPA designation. While our CPA rotations continue to expand, our current program will see you gain experience and meet all CPA competency requirements by completing challenging job rotations in at least three of the following approved rotations: 
•    Financial Reporting
•    Corporate Compliance & Internal Audit
•    Retail Accounting
•    Accounting & Control


Upon program completion, you will have the opportunity to join one of the above-mentioned teams or one of our other teams, located across the country (Stellarton, NS, Mississauga, ON, Calgary, AB, Montreal, QC). By joining one of these teams, you will provide the in-depth financial analysis, decision-making support, audit, control, and/or governance and risk reviews that your training was designed to facilitate. This experience will allow you to further develop and enhance your skills while pursuing a long-term career with Sobeys.

 

Support Provided to Students


Sobeys is committed to its students in the CPA Program and offers a great amount of support, including:
•    Financial Support in the form of covering the cost of CPA courses, exams, professional fees and related travel expenses
•    Providing external consultants and expert support for various modules
•    Providing experienced mentors to support and guide students through the process of obtaining the necessary education and experience to obtain their CPA 
•    A student pool made up of prior students to offer advice and academic support (practice exam marking, etc.)
•    A dedicated steering committee to oversee developments in the CPA program and ensure continued success of our students
•    Mentorship: Sobeys has numerous mentors available who have all completed the CPA or legacy programs. Many are senior employees who are extremely valuable resources throughout the CPA Program and in your career

•    Business or Commerce student (or graduate) with all CPA Canada prerequisite educational requirements to be complete before September 2024
