Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities, and we are always looking for bright new talent to join our team! We currently have an opportunity for a Financial Analyst - Inventory to join our Retail Accounting team.
*This opportunity is for a 6-12-month contract.
Here’s where you’ll be focusing:
• Ensure the completion and accuracy of Inventory Valuations for all retail stores for Fresh and Non Fresh Counts
• Be a Finance partner for the store operators you support.
• Complete variance analysis of Inventory Review and provide to Finance Managers and Operation Partners.
• Prepare corporate working papers to support all balance sheet account balances related to Inventory.
• Analyze margins and review all general ledger inputs for reasonableness and accuracy
• Prepare period accruals and other entries
• Identify possible theft or fraud for referral to Security Services
• Actively pursue continuous improvement opportunities in terms of systems and processes
• Develop applicable reports and KPIs
• Remain knowledgeable and up-to-date on all areas of grocery industry
• Ensure integrity of all applicable ongoing financial processes
• Identify high risk situations for financial control group
What you have to offer:
• An Undergraduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or a Diploma and a minimum of 4 years relevant experience
• Knowledge of SAP preferred
• Solid analytical and problem solving skills
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills (particularly Excel)
• Very strong communication skills both written and oral.
• Retail Experience is an asset.
