Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities and we are always looking for bright new talent to join our team! We currently have a full-time opportunity for a Financial Clerk. This position will be based out of our office in Stellarton, NS.


We are looking for an experienced Financial Clerk. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who delivers high quality work and thrives in a dynamic environment. This role is a great opportunity for you to own processes and make a meaningful impact.
 

Job Description

What you will do in this fast paced role:
•    Opening & sorting of mail on a 2x daily basis
•    Monthly bank reconciliations as assigned, ensuring the general ledger matches the bank statements
•    Preparing & keying journal entries
•    Prepare working papers as assigned
•    Processing of payables (ensuring appropriate approvals, writing cheques or drafting requests for bank drafts, confirming sufficient funds in the bank (i.e. drafting transfer of funds, if required)
•    Compiling year end files for external advisors (i.e. running Sage reports, compiling bank & investment statements and invoice support)
•    Compiling trade settlements for investment transactions 
•    Administration duties such as printing of labels, rolling hard files, preparing files for storage, signature collection, etc. 
•    Other duties as assigned
 

Job Requirements

What your resume will include and demonstrate to us:
•    Accounting Diploma and 3-5 experience is a must
•    Sage experience preferred 
•    3-5 years of bookkeeping experience is preferred
•    Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) 
•    Sensitive to extremely confidential information
•    Strong attention to detail
