Reporting to the Vice President, Strategy Execution, PMO and Risk Management, the primary responsibilities of this role is to build and maintain our 3-year strategic roadmap & ensure successful delivery of Project Horizon outcomes. 
In addition, the Director of Project Selection & Resource Allocation is acting as a Business Partner to functions or lines of business to prioritize the key strategic initiatives to deliver on our business & financial outcomes. Developing high-performance talent of the Portfolio Management team is a critical priority in this role.
This is a highly visible role supporting all levels of stakeholders across the business

A snapshot of some of the exciting things you will lead and do:

  • In partnership with Business Partners and Finance, develop the strategic roadmap focused on detailed prioritization of initiatives, resource planning and capital budget. 
  • Continuously improve the project intake and prioritization process and while ensuring effective stakeholder engagement 
  • Manage an enterprise portfolio of 70+ projects through the development and implementation of effective Portfolio management processes and tools
  • Improved the quality of project delivery with an increased number of on-time, on-budget projects through proactive resource capacity planning processes
  • Ensure adherence to project management, change management, and risk management standards across the entire program/project life cycle to include project management practices, tools and documentation of project artifacts
  • Promote positive relationships and clear communication with key business sponsors and stakeholders; represent EPMO on steering committees as needed
  • Build a “learning community” of practice within the project delivery discipline in establishing a program of continuous improvement through assessment of internal and external best practices and lessons learned to achieve higher maturity in program and project management across the organization
  • Ensure efficient and effective financial management processes are in place including reporting and control mechanisms sufficient to ensure appropriate stewardship of resources
  • Collaborate with senior executives and stakeholders in the business to prioritize projects based on company objectives in a dynamic and fast-paced business environment
  • Ensure allocation of Project Managers and Project Leadership Team are aligned to the strategic portfolio
  • Provide the organization and direct reports with leadership, direction, and coaching to achieve work objectives and improve performance and skills
  • Provide regular visibility to project status (key decisions, dependencies, issues, risks, metrics) on a standard cadence through status reporting and project/resource reviews

What You Will Bring:

  • Minimum 7+ years’ experience as a Project Management Office leader, budget management and dashboard reporting; proven record of innovative thinking, and delivering projects with excellence
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience as a Portfolio Manager - managing large portfolios across retail, merchandising, store operations,
  • Tenacious and willing to support the team during peak volumes and workloads with various activities.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and institutionalizing an Enterprise PMO function for an organization; a passion for Continuous Improvement
  • Strong in process management and controls to minimize risks exposure
  • Interest and passion for people development
  • Experience in budget management and reforecasting to support annual planning and lead monthly reforecasting for project budgets
  • Extensive experience with traditional and innovative project management processes, techniques, tools across agile, waterfall, iterative methods associated tools
  • Sound organizational, analytical, judgement and decision-making skills with proven abilities in problem solving
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for the development of strategy, guidelines, policies, standards, and best practices
  • University undergraduate degree in related discipline or equivalent
  • Experience in implementation and use of Enterprise Portfolio Management and Project Management tools (PlanView or others) is an asset
  • PMP (nice to have) or PgMP (nice to have) designation
  • MBA (nice to have)
  • Bilingualism in English and French is an asset
