We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to join us as Director, Cyber Security. Reporting to the VP, IT Shared Services & Head of Cyber Security you will lead Sobeys talented Cyber Security team to enable and protect our digital transformation and business growth.  

This role can be based out of one our main offices including: Mississauga, ON; Calgary, AB; Montreal, QC; Stellarton, NS; or Dartmouth, NS. 

Job Description


As the Director, Cyber Security with Sobeys you will:

  • Build an engaged and high performing team
    • Coach and mentor leaders in the team to enable them to excel in their roles and support engagement activities, training, career development for all teammates. 
  • Strategy & Roadmap Delivery 
    • Develop and maintain a 3-year cyber security roadmap, aligned with the IT roadmap and enterprise priorities. Plan and execute on cyber security projects to deliver on the established roadmap. 
  • Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC)
    • Lead a comprehensive GRC program, including security & privacy by design assessments, security awareness & training, compliance, and define/measure/report on cyber security risks & controls.
  • Identity & Access Management (IAM)
    • Lead a seamless IAM program that support access controls for the entire enterprise. Lead development, design, and continuous improvement of IAM processes and procedures for new and existing applications
  • Cyber Security Operations
    • Manage the protection of systems, networks, and data. Proactively monitor and mitigate risks. Lead effective incident response. Support a robust vulnerability management program.  

Job Requirements


What your experience and resume will demonstrate the following:

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Engineering. 
  • Minimum of 10 years progressive work experience in Information Technology.
  • Minimum of 5 years of technical experience in Cyber Security.
  • Minimum of 3 years of people leadership in Cyber Security.
  • CISSP certification preferred.
  • Experience managing large capital and operating budgets.
  • Knowledge of security and privacy frameworks/regulations such as NIST, PCI, SOC2, SOX, ISO 27k, PIPEDA.
  • Knowledge of all facets of cyber security: architecture, design & delivery, governance risk compliance, identity & access management, 24x7 cyber security operations.
  • Experience designing & implementing cloud security controls.
  • Experience working with cyber security vendors to deploy security controls.
  • Experience working as a / with a Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP).
