We have a full-time, six-month contract opportunity in the Maintenance Solution Centre for a skilled professional to join our team, with the possibility of extension based on business needs and performance.

 

This role ensures stores receive timely and high-quality service from external providers for all maintenance and repair issues, utilizing specialized software. It also focuses on delivering customer-oriented solutions at the lowest sustainable total cost of ownership.

 

This position operates in a hybrid work environment, requiring three days per week in the office. Flexibility is essential, as shifts may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support a 24/7 operation.

Caller: Help! The power went out in the freezer aisle, and we’re losing product. We need to get power back now!
Response: That sounds serious. I’m here to help. I know exactly who to call to get you back up and running. I will connect with one of our vendor partners to get a technician to your location as soon as possible and follow up with details in 15 minutes.

 

This role requires someone who can remain calm during escalated interactions and has the ability to prioritize issues based on risk, urgency, and maintenance experience. Each day will present unique challenges, and adaptability is essential.

 

What You Will Do in This Fast-Paced Role

 

  • Respond to store calls and electronic work orders requesting maintenance services.
  • Review work orders (triage) and initiate service requests with the appropriate business partners based on severity.
  • Respond to business partner calls and provide support as needed to mitigate store issues.
  • Remotely access, assess, and adjust store heating, cooling, lighting, and refrigeration using building management systems.
  • Respond to technical questions related to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and refrigeration.
  • Assist stores during emergency situations, ensuring Occupational Health and Safety measures are followed, while keeping key personnel informed.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance schedules and ensure compliance from business partners.
  • Track incidents through to resolution, monitor service accuracy, and ensure store satisfaction.
  • Maintain data integrity of systems and archives through collaboration with internal stakeholders, stores, and business partners.
  • Review quotes, estimates, and invoices to ensure they meet requirements and follow approved rates.
  • Support sustainability tracking and reporting related to utility usage, refrigerant consumption, and waste diversion.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the level of service provided by the Maintenance Solution Centre (MSC).
  • Assist and support team members in achieving technical and customer service goals.
  • Dispatch to stores when required.

What you have to offer:

 

  • Post secondary education in a related field or equivalent experience (HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Refrigeration or related trade experience preferred).
  • Strong customer focus and the ability to work in a team setting.
  • Experience in a retail environment preferred.
  • Experience in a similar role, with responsibility for maintenance preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Effective time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to respond to rapidly changing needs in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of building control and management systems preferred.
