Sobeys has an exciting permanent opportunity available as a Cloud Orchestrator within the IT Shared Services department, reporting to the Manager of the Cloud Center of Excellence. As a key member of the Sobeys Cloud Center of Excellence you will work with many teammates from cross-functional teams of Cloud Architects, Applications Developers, DevOps Developers, Machine-Learning Engineers, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and Cyber Security Specialists to help bring our technology projects to life securely.

 

Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities, and we are always looking for bright new talent to join our team! We currently have a full-time opportunity for a Cloud Orchestrator. This role can be based out of one our main offices including: Stellarton, NS; Mississauga, ON; Calgary, AB.

Here’s where you’ll be focusing:

 

As an Cloud Orchestrator with Sobeys, you will:

 

  • Work in an exciting, growing, and vital team that is at the centre of the action for Sobeys enterprise roadmap and technology initiatives.
  • Govern services and architecture within a multi-cloud environment, primarily in Azure and also Google Cloud Platform, SAP BTP Cloud Platform, and a growing list of cloud service providers and cloud-hosted solutions.
  • Enable cloud adoption by providing subject matter expertise and support to cross-functional teams working on solutions in: micro-services and integration; large infrastructure as code implementations; complex containerized deployments in Azure RedHat OpenShift and Azure Container Apps; data analytics, data engineering, and machine-learning; enterprise data lake and data governance; and many more.
  • Work cross-functionally with all Centre of Excellence, Cyber Security, Technology Product Delivery teams, Advanced Analytics, and the Enterprise Data Office in support of production systems, enterprise roadmap program delivery, and innovative discovery.
  • Manage Azure tenant level governance structures in blueprints, security and access frameworks, Azure policies in support of all Cyber Security and Cloud policies.
  • Work closely with Cloud COE Solution Architects on new technology advancements, new design patterns for secure, scalable, flexible, and cost-efficient cloud solutions.
  • Support the Cloud COE’s ownership of secure CI/CD, DevOps and automation practices implemented within Azure DevOps (ADO) alongside your DevOps COE teammates.
  • Implement cloud cost optimization measures in support of the FinOps practices within the Cloud COE.
  • Support continuous improvement in the Cloud COE’s processes, standards, and practices.
  • Assist in the adoption of tools and technology, methodologies and innovations.

What you have to offer:

 

 

  • Experience in a cloud administration role and understanding of cloud architecture and services in Microsoft Azure.
  • Azure Certifications (e.g. AZ-104 Azure Administrator and higher) would be a significant asset.
  • Related university degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of and experience with:
    • Azure administration, policy, configuration, solution deployment.
    • Azure core services and management tools.
    • Azure general and network security.
    • Azure identity, governance, privacy, compliance.
  • Working experience and knowledge in:
    • Azure Databricks, Containerized solutions using Kubernetes (e.g. Azure RedHat OpenShift (ARO), Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Container Apps), Synapse, Data Factory, Functions, Logic Apps, Azure SQL, CosmosDB, MongoDB, Data Lake.
    • PowerShell, Azure CLI and other scripting languages.
  • Considered a Plus:
    • Experience with both Windows and Linux operating systems. 
    • Experience with Azure DevOps, and infrastructure as code CI/CD deployment practices using Bicep, Azure Resource Manager (ARM), Terraform, Ansible.
    • Experience with other public clouds e.g. Google Cloud Platform, SAP BTP Cloud Platform/Foundry.
