Overview

 

Sobeys has an exciting permanent opportunity available as a Business Technologist within the IT department. This role reports to the Manager of Technical Services and can be based out of one our main offices including: Stellarton, NS; Montreal, QC; Mississauga, ON; or Calgary, AB. 
 

Job Description

 

As a Business Technologist with Sobeys you will:

  • Administer virtualized environments (VMware and/or Cloud).
  • Develop and Deploy automation tools to aid in system management activities.
  • Install Operating System software (Windows Server), upgrades, maintenance fixes/patches (Standalone/VM), and third-party software applications following Sobeys standards.
  • Participate in architecture design and reviews.
  • Participate in a rotational 24-hour on-call support for all production systems and supporting infrastructure.
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolution for problems with software systems and programs.
  • Participate in application migrations between on-premise and the Cloud.
  • Support and work with consultants/technicians to correct any hardware/OS problems that may arise (Windows/Cloud).
  • Provide technical expertise on projects of medium to high complexity.
  • Participate in all areas of analysis, quality assurance, and performance tuning with project teams. 
  • Analyze applications that have response and throughput problems.
  • Develop and maintain Technical Recovery Plans for systems, databases and applications and participate in backup processes.
  • Participate in Disaster Recovery exercises to develop/validate documented procedures.

Job Requirements

 

Your experience and resume will show us:

  • College/University Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years experience in a Windows Systems Administration role.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Suite.
  • Experience supporting multiple vendor server platforms.
  • Experience with virtual server technology including VMware.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft software server applications including SQL.
  • Experience with cloud technologies (Azure/Other).
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Proven Self-Starter.
