Job Description
Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities, and we are always looking for new talent to join our team! We currently have an opening for a full-time Specialist – Continuous Improvement – Distribution Logistics to join our Supply Chain Continuous Improvement Team.
As a member of the Supply Chain Systems and Capabilities team, come be part of a dynamic, cross-functional team of resources supporting distribution centers across the country. Contribute to generating value through the implementation of innovative and challenging projects.
More specifically, you will be required to:
- Lead and perform project management and multi-departmental teams coordination in achieving project objectives (planning, communication, change management, execution) while exercising collaborative leadership;
- Identify non-value added activities and priority opportunities through business process observation, data, cost and KPI analysis;
- Formulate diagnosis of observed business processes;
- Identify solutions to issues raised, propose recommendations, analyze the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of the recommendations made and participate in their implementation;
- Develop accurate and concise presentations and diagnosis to Operations and Leadership teams and ensure the quality of the final solution presented;
- Monitor project progress with detailed actions plans (schedule, budget, resources, etc.) and anticipate the need to develop contingency plans or take corrective measures;
- Analyze data and simulate scenarios, improve and map processes, develop tools and research best practices;
- Participate in the implementation of technology tools or deployment of new processes in distribution centers; Document processes and procedures, Train resources on new tools/methods;
- Act as a distribution specialist in various projects involving other teams or business lines;
- Influence and collaborate with various stakeholders in Distribution and other departments (Supply Chain, Retail Operations, Marketing, IT, etc.) in addition to coaching team members.
- Promote a culture of Continuous Improvement and Health and Safety.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration or Supply Chain
- Minimum of 5 years in a similar role
- Bilingual proficiency in written and spoken English and French - The candidate will be expected to work with peers in other provinces in the development, development and implementation of tools and processes across Canada, as well as provide support to Sobeys employees across Canada
- Experience in a 3PL and/or Wholesale Distribution Environment is an asset
- Strong working knowledge of the warehouse operational processes
- Lean Six sigma Green belt certification (Black Belt is an asset)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel) and good knowledge of Access
- Knowledge of VBA and SQL (an asset)
- Proficiency in building high impact presentations to Senior and Executive Leadership
- Availability to travel to Sobeys Warehouses as per project requirements
- Strong communication skills (oral and written);
- Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills with being detail oriented;
- Ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization with minimal supervision;
- Ability to manage and implement change in a team culture with both union and non-union workforce;
- Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel and deliver results on time, on budget and to the satisfaction of internal stakeholders;
- Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment;
- Ability to be a strong leader; Self-starter, quick learner and self-motivated.
