Sobeys is currently looking for a paralegal to cover a 12-month maternity leave within its legal team. If you are passionate about commercial law and have experience in-house, this position is for you!

Here’s where you’ll be focusing:

•    Support the needs of legal counsel and business people from different departments, such as: Finance, Operations and Franchise Business Development. Responsibilities would include:  drafting, preparing and entering into various contracts and agreements: promises to purchase, affiliation agreements, securities agreements, loan agreements, lease agreements, various related resolutions and other legal documents intended to meet the needs of the company, conducting research and making the necessary follow-ups;

•    Coordinate the process of signing legal documents by authorized representatives of the company and individuals and/or entities involved in the commercial agreements;

•    Act as a contact person in several types of files with internal and external stakeholders to the company;

•    Write and maintain certain reference documents and file follow-ups;

•    Maintain the proper functioning of the filing system (physical and computer) for files.
 

What you have to offer:

•    You have training in legal techniques or any other relevant legal training, combined with a minimum of 2 years of experience in the commercial sector as a paralegal;
•    You have an excellent fluency of French and English (both oral and written). The candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with peers in other provinces to develop procedures and processes to be implemented nationally. She will also have to interact regularly with her peers in other provinces, as well as provide support to Sobeys employees across Canada.
•    You work easily with Microsoft software;
•    You know how to show initiative, autonomy and have an excellent sense of organization;
•    You have the ability to handle a large volume of work and deal with short and rigid schedules.

Could be an asset:
•    You have knowledge of search tools on sites of a legal nature, including the REQ, the RDPRM.
