Sobeys Inc. is full of exciting opportunities, and we are looking for the best talent to join our team!  We have a full-time position for a bilingual Learning Specialist Designer, reporting to the Manager  of Learning & Skills Development Experience. The incumbent will be responsible for working with the business function leads for intake and needs assessment, the design and development of a variety of micro-learning; asynchronous and synchronous training; ILT/VILT; visual design of creative digital training assets; video based learning etc.

Here’s where you’ll be focusing:

  • Liaise and partner with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), business leads and project teams across the business function areas to analyze, identify learning needs and ensure learning assets meet business requirements
  • Communicate training solution recommendations and technicalities to teammates, leaders, and projects teams by providing learning briefs, visual design concepts boards, prototypes, and blueprints
  • Leverage a data drive approach to propose the appropriate training solution that enhances the learner user experience (UX), allows learners to learn in the flow of work and complies with learning and design standards
  • Create high-level training design and development plans outlining work effort, training modalities and strategic approaches to solving training needs for stakeholders
  • Create compelling course content, storyboards and scripts that enhances and builds skill development and knowledge retention for teammates across different business function areas
  • Design and develop engaging learning activities and consumer grade quality learning assets utilizing a variety of authoring tools and software
  • Develop rapid development prototypes that brings a mobile responsive approach to design
  • Create video content using common video authoring tools like Adobe Premiere, After Effects or other similar tools. Knowledge and experience with pre/post video production and editing is an asset
  • Develop post training assets to drive behavioral change, improved performance, and business outcomes and manage training sustainment activities when required
  • Supports the team with resources and contributes valuable insight to meetings through shared experiences that build skills and capabilities
  • Evaluate and monitor the effectiveness, learning experience and business impact of assigned initiatives
  • Stay current with learning-oriented technology trends and innovations to create high quality learning assets that enhance the learning experience for diverse groups of learners

What you have to offer:

  • Fluent in both English and French languages (spoken and written)  The candidate will be expected to work with peers in other provinces in the development, development and implementation of tools and processes across Canada, as well as provide support to Sobeys employees across Canada
  • 3-5+ years of work experience in a relevant field, such as instructional design, graphic and multimedia design, content creation, video editing and/or art direction
  • Demonstrated experience as an Instructional Designer or multimedia developer for education and learning solutions
  • Certified Training & Development Professional (CTDP) or equivalent accreditation in instructional design, educational technology (preferred but not mandatory)
  • Familiarity with and knowledge of learning and development (L&D) principles and methodologies
  • Proven track-record of creating compelling multimedia content and collateral that grabs attention and connects, motivates, and inspires learners
  • Proven video pre- and post-production and editing skills
  • Exceptional and strong content writing and editing skills
  • Creative and visual design experience a plus
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills is necessary
  • Proven experience in managing multiple training projects and work priorities simultaneously
  • Utilize basic project management skills to deliver consumer grade quality outputs
  • Intermediate level experience with Microsoft Office Applications including Teams, and SharePoint
  • Intermediate level and proficiency in producing learning assets with digital media and audio
  • Knowledge and experience in the following authoring tools: Articulate Storyline, Rise, Camtasia, Vyond, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Adobe After Affects, Adobe Premiere and other photo/video management systems
