You will actively contributes as a key leader within the Brand Strategy & Planning team, acting as a champion of the Sobeys brand.   You will assist in brand strategy and planning and developing and executing integrated marketing plans for the Sobeys banner. In addition, you will play a key leadership role within a cross-functional team of internal and external/agency partners to help bring the marketing strategy to life for the consumer.

Here’s where you’ll be focusing:

  • Development of the mid/long-term strategic plans for the Sobeys brand including the management of the marketing plan, defining seasonal marketing approach and key marketing activities to be supported.
  • Support the development of the Altitude marketing strategy and category marketing across Sobeys banner to Differentiating in Grocery to Win (i.e., winning in Fresh, Local, Multicultural and key department strategies).
  • Develop Sobeys banner strategy and activation on the Value positioning and strengthen Sobeys banner value perceptions. Define banner-specific strategy for Own Brands execution and activation.
  • Develop strategic marketing briefs and responsible for sharing with internal teams and agencies.
  • Maintain brand expression and standards for Sobeys brand.
  • Ensure a cohesive voice for the Sobeys brand (Mission, value, brand pillar, visual identity, tone and manner).
  • In close collaboration with the Sponsorship, Community Investment and Category Marketing, Loyalty and Local Store Marketing teams, oversee and manage the 52-week brand strategy & plan for Sobeys.
  • Support the strategy and work with the Corporate Marketing CoE to shape creative direction and media plan. Provide oversight of campaign and advertising production for Sobeys brand campaigns, including flyer, POS and digital materials, intake and Omni-channel distribution and budget optimization.
  • Create alignment during planning process by effectively advocating for Marketing priorities and ensuring they are built into banner plans and briefs.
  • Oversee program integration across channels, negotiating activities between departments. 
  • Work cross-functionally with Merchandising, Operations and Own Brands to ensure Marketing is seen as a credible voice at the table.
  • With the support of BI and the customer insight resources, utilize marketing analytics tools to track, analyze, and report on key marketing metrics.
  • Contribute to managing a direct report (Specialist), provide leadership and guidance, delegate tasks effectively and identify development opportunities.
     

What you have to offer:

  • Undergraduate Degree in a related discipline and a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience.
  • Brand marketing and retail experience required. Demonstrated strength in consumer-centric thinking, shopper dynamics and retail customer executional strategies. 
  • Retail expertise industry preferred.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to sell ideas internally throughout the organization as well as externally with third parties.
  • Proven track record of collaborative leadership within a high-performing cross-functional team environment.
  • Proven track record of managing diverse projects and working teams to reach goals and timelines.
  • Curious, creative, passion for food and solution oriented.
