Job Description

  • Responsible for the overall claims management and administration of occupational and non-occupational disability claims for corporate retail locations, RSCs and offices
  • Provide input in the development of programs and tools
  • Manage claim files from beginning to end, meeting timelines, key activities and focusing on RTW
  • Review claims for completeness and assist locations to ensure all required info is provided
  • Forward occupational claims to the provincial adjudicator and non-occupational claims to Blue Cross
  • Manage, follow up and control claims management activities and programs to assure early intervention and return to work practices are respected and implemented
  • Participate in meetings with internal and external personnel to review and discuss case management; provide recommendations
  • Prepare objection letters and appeals for disputed work related claims
  • Process medical leaves of absences as developed by corporate procedures
  • Responsible for the accurate, complete and valid data inputted into Medgate, prepare statistical data and perform claims analysis; provide recommendations
  • Ensure data entered into Medgate is accurate, validated and reportable
  • Conduct claim management training sessions for retail locations, RSCs and offices
  • Promote early and safe return to work from occupational injury with both management and employees

Job Requirements

  • Post Secondary education in health and safety; degree in related or supporting field and CHRP or equivalent preferred
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety (OHS) act, provincial workers’ compensation and human rights legislations
  • 3-5 years case management experience in a unionized environment related to retail and/or logistics preferred; experience in a large organization with multiple operations
  • Travel 5-10%
