The role of Manager, Strategic Supplier Partnerships is responsible for delivering strategic shopper marketing programs and activation plans that integrate Empire. supplier partners through Empire’s sponsorship portfolio and marketing assets. This position will think strategically and work collaboratively to create innovative and strategic plans that deliver on strategic marketing goals and business objectives. This role will work as part of an integrated marketing communications team and lead a team of Specialists and Coordinators to ensure program development and innovation is grounded in insights and experience, resulting in flawless supplier integration through Sobeys Inc. owned, paid, partner and earned marketing assets.
Here’s where you’ll be focusing:
- Develop the strategic approach and roadmap for Empire shopper marketing strategy to monetize the sponsorship portfolio and deliver innovative partner programs that support loyalty initiatives & set Empire apart from its competitors
- Lead strategic program development of all supplier marketing opportunities and increase supplier revenue with key programs and organizational guardrails, including the launch of Empire’s in-store demo & experiential program.
- Manage cross functional planning and calendarization for sponsorship and supplier marketing-led programs including creative concepts, in-store & out of store channel selection, creative briefs/dockets, and stakeholder brief.
- Develop and maintain owned, paid, partner & earned rate cards for the purposes of developing program investment requirements and optimizing program profitability
- Manage negotiations with Empire supplier partners for investment into Empire marketing programs and assets while governing supplier investment and activation against Empire Shopper Marketing strategy and guardrails
- Manage the holistic view of supplier marketing opportunities with oversight to paid, owned, partner and earned media to create an optimal asset mix to maximize program value and profitability.
- Use insights, trends, and forecasts to review and analyze program performance for both supplier partner performance and customer experience, using insights-based approach to optimize overall campaign performance
- Responsible for managing Shopper Marketing budget related to all partners and communications channels such as agency fees, in-store signage, digital, media and loyalty promotions to optimize profitability. Collaborate with the In-store Marketing, Customer Insights, Brand, Loyalty, Creative Studio and other brand teams to develop best-in-class marketing initiatives.
- Working with the Director, Strategic Marketing Partnerships this role is responsible for driving the Supplier revenue strategy and activation of supplier funded marketing programs and assets.
- Partner with internal merchandising and operations teams to manage the development, negotiation and execution of supplier funded programs to ensure seamless customer experience for both supplier partners and customers.
- Partner with MarTech & Digital Experience and Consumer Insights teams to ensure effective activations that properly leverage customer data and marketing technology
- Collaborate with external (e.g. strategic vendor partners) and internal stakeholders (e.g. Media & Loyalty) to generate programs & customer engagement opportunities increasing brand favourability/behavior
- Consistently improving processes in a proactive manner; work collaboratively to deliver performance improvements and contribute to overall business objectives
What you have to offer:
- An Undergraduate Degree and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in Strategic retail partnerships & brand marketing
- Strategic thinker with the ability to sell ideas internally throughout the organization as well as externally with third parties
- Proven track record of collaborative leadership
- Proven track record of managing diverse projects and working teams to reach goals and timelines
- Curious, creative, passion for food and solution oriented
