Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities, and we are always looking for bright new talent to join our team!  We are currently looking for a Senior GIS Analyst.  This is a hybrid role and there is an in-office requirement of 3 days a week.

Here’s where you’ll be focusing:

Data Administration and Querying

 

  • Monitor and maintain the departmental SQL server database and backup jobs
  • Acquire and upload data to the departmental geodatabases ensuring data currency, consistency, and alignment between internal and external clients
  • Develop tools to enable analysis, data quality checks and automate ETL tasks 
  • Utilize SQL Server Management Studio and ArcGIS to query data, create views, functions and develop stored procedures
  • Provide GIS system administration, GIS database editing, geocoding, geoprocessing and quality control in desktop and web environments
  • Act as a Real Estate Planning data steward that can speak on behalf of our datasets and models to the wider organization

 

Spatial and Statistical Analysis

  • Collaborate cross functionally to develop new methodologies and models to support locational strategies across the organization
  • Analyze spatial and non-spatial data for statistically significant patterns of customer distribution using multiple internal and external datasets 
  • Manipulate, extract, locate and analyze geographic data to explore spatial relationships

 

Reporting, Mapping and Document Management

  • Create and maintain departmental reports in Tableau and Power BI
  • Update ArcGIS desktop templates and ArcGIS Online applications by publishing data to ArcGIS Server
  • Enhance the mapping platform, using Python or ModelBuilder, by creating tools and automating map production
  • Enhance and update the Microsoft SharePoint site for Real Estate Planning

 

Ad-Hoc Requests

  • Respond promptly to ad-hoc data, reporting and mapping requests
  • Provide frontline user support for the GIS system including problem solving/resolution and troubleshooting

What you have to offer:

  • An undergraduate degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience 
  • Minimum of 2 years in an intermediate or a senior GIS role working with SQL Server, SQL Server Management Studio, t-SQL, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Server, spatial analysis
  • Minimum 1 year of development experience with Tableau or Power BI
  • Minimum 1 year of development experience in one of the following programming languages: Python, C#.NET or VB.NET 
  • Advanced MS Office Productivity Suite skills
  • Bilingual (English & French) an asset
