Role Overview:

As a Project Manager within our Transformation Management Office, reporting to the Director of Technology Transformation Management, you will lead the execution of single projects or workstreams within larger programs that are crucial to Sobeys' strategic objectives. This role requires effective communication at the VP level, strong financial acumen, and a focus on stakeholder accountability and ROI.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Project Support Model and Governance:

 

  • Develop a support model and governance framework for your projects, leveraging your experience and internal best practices to ensure agility, adaptiveness, and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Create clear and attainable project objectives and build the project requirements; Lead the initiation, planning, controlling, monitoring, execution, and closing of projects.
  • Collaborate with Business Leads to create project charters to obtain a thorough understanding of business objectives and define and agree on project scope with all stakeholders.
  • Agree on Critical Success Factors with key stakeholders to deliver projects on time, on budget, and within agreed-upon scope.
  • Build activities or work packages by sequence and duration while defining roles and responsibilities.
  • Establish deadlines, build a change management and communication plan, and manage the project financial status through day-to-day cost tracking.
  • Define success and manage milestone deliverables as scheduled by controlling deadlines with clear plans and empowering the team to be responsible for delivery.
  • Implement dynamic processes to cater to evolving project needs, fostering efficiency, transparency, and accountability.


Elevate Strategic Business Partnership:

 

  • Position the TMO as a strategic business partner, deeply integrated into decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate closely with key stakeholders, offering tailored project management solutions that drive tangible business results.


Enforce Stakeholder Accountability and ROI Focus:

 

  • Establish a culture of accountability among stakeholders, rigorously evaluating project business cases and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Implement robust tracking mechanisms to monitor project performance against predefined metrics, focusing on driving profitable ROI.

What you have to offer:

 

Qualifications and Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline with 5+ years of experience in project management, including overseeing complex, cross-functional projects or workstreams.
  • Proficiency in managing project budgets and strong financial acumen.
  • Experience in managing difficult stakeholders and influencing at the VP level.
  • Agility in problem-solving within project management, utilizing both traditional and innovative methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability in coaching and developing team members.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or MBA preferred.
  • Bilingualism in English and French would be an asset.
  • The candidate will be expected to work with peers in other provinces in the development, development and implementation of tools and processes across Canada, as well as provide support to Sobeys employees across Canada.
