Overview

*This is a 15 month contract*
The Category Marketing Manager, Full Service actively contributes to the Brand Strategy & Planning team acting as the marketing champion of a specific set of Grocery and Fresh categories.  They will assist in brand strategy and planning and in the development and execution of integrated marketing plans for categories including Meat, Seafood, Plant-based Bakery and select Grocery categories across both the Sobeys and Safeway banners. They will work with a cross functional team of internal and external/agency partners to help bring the strategy to life for the consumer.

Job Description

  • Develop, plan, and execute, the marketing campaigns, both in-store and out of stores with a robust emphasis on digital and social marketing for Fresh Meat, Seafood, Plant-based protein, Bakery, Ready For You, HMR and select Grocery categories 
  • Ensure that the strategy and execution of Category Marketing strategies is consistent with the Sobeys and Safeway banner strategies and guidelines
  • Develop strategic marketing briefs and responsible for sharing with internal teams and agencies.
  • In close collaboration with the Sponsorship, Community Investment and Category Marketing and Local Store Marketing teams, oversee and manage the 52-week brand strategy & plan against Category-focused Marketing initiatives for Sobeys and Safeway 
  • Oversee program integration across channels, negotiating activities between departments and execution for print, social and digital.
  • Working closely with Marketing Communications, provide oversight of campaign and advertising production for Category-focused campaigns; including flyer, POS and digital materials; Photo Studio, Digital Asset Management and Creative Services project intake and scheduling; pre-media activities relating to training and financial tracking; Omni-channel distribution optimization.
  • Responsible for budget management and reporting for your own marketing programs
  • Contribute in managing a direct report including ongoing training and development and performance management
  • Oversee and manage with the support and close collaboration of the Sponsorship, ExM, CRM, Store Marketing and Media teams the following activities: sponsorship, brand activation, local marketing, grand openings, social content and community management and donation activities for the Sobeys banner and contribute to decision making for new requests
  • Provides input to Marketing Services teams in translating brand vision into customer communication products such as flyer
  • Support go-to-market strategies for Sobeys and Safeway banners 
  • Collaborates with merchandising to ensure consistent and appropriate advertising support against major category-focused marketing initiatives
