Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities and we are always looking for bright new talent to join our team! We currently have an opportunity for an 18 month term as Director Finance – Strategic Cost Management to join our Finance team.
 

Job Description

Strategic Sourcing & Cost Reduction
•    Support the Strategic Sourcing team on appropriate financial analysis of initiatives
•    Monitor and hold the business accountable to the benefits of all initiatives
•    Catalogue and prioritize cost savings measures and work with business and finance partners to build initiatives to deliver savings. 
•    Build regular reporting on key initiatives and work closely with the budgeting teams to ensure savings are embedded to achieve annualized benefits.
•    Build a zero-based budgeting program that aligns to the company’s strategy
•    Provide appropriate review, analysis and support to Shared Services in support of the accuracy, completeness and efficiency of period end close
•    Head office SG&A reporting, forecasting and budgeting
•     Ownership of FTE reporting, budgeting, forecasting
•     Provide direction, leadership and process control for budgeting and forecasting for all expense and recovery lines
•    Develop strategic department plans to obtain achievement of goals
•    Optimize allocation of resources to maximize productivity and results
•    Execute standards to ensure good corporate governance
•    Develop action plans for general efficiencies and required improvements

 

People Leadership
•    Participate in the recruiting, interviewing and selection process of new employees
•    Provide leadership, coaching, development, training and career planning to direct reports
•    Ensure direct report roles and capabilities are optimally aligned with the department’s strategic direction providing advice for continuous improvement to direct reports
•    Manage direct reports including: selection, orientation, training and development, performance management, succession planning and compensation

Job Requirements

What your resume will include and demonstrate to us:
•    An Undergraduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience and a professional designation (CMA, CA, CGA)
•    Three years experience leading a team(s)
•    Aptitude for project work and detailed analytics
•    Experience with Zero Based Budgeting
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills
•    Ability to influence others
•    Experience creating a team working environment
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office
