Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities and we are always looking for bright new talent to join our team! We currently have a full-time opportunity for an Director Enterprise Architect. This role can be based out of one our main offices including: Stellarton, NS; Mississauga, ON; Calgary, AB.

Here’s where you’ll be focusing:

 

As a Director Enterprise Architect with Sobeys, you will:

 

Oversee central team of 5-10 (plus dotted line reporting of  other Enterprise Architects in “Community of Practice”) to:

  • Advance Enterprise Architecture practice, marrying industry best practices with a pragmatic approach and roadmap relative to identified needs.
  • Articulate value proposition and communicate / educate organization on the EA practice; promote the business value of EA as an enabler of strategy formulation and support for technology innovation, which drives the organization’s top and bottom lines.
  • Own approach to organizing / maintaining “living” view of Empire enterprise architecture, deploy across EAs within Solution teams.
  • Own continuously updating target state architecture of application and technology portfolio.
  • Own architectural standards, frameworks, and policies for acquisition / implementation of IT technologies (hardware and software); monitor and measure adoption and adherence. through Enterprise Architecture Review Board (EARB) and Solution Architecture Review Board (SARB).
  • Influence product / vendor direction and integrate technology from an architectural perspective within the business environment.
  • Oversee team that Maps current and target state business processes to determine change impacts for major technology transformation projects.
  • Oversee team that Maps and maintain view of critical business processes, including key system interactions.
  • Continuously refine roadmap to achieve target state Enterprise Architecture in line with enterprise and technology strategy (with Technology , Strategy and Road Mapping teams).
  • Build technology modernization, rationalization and decommissioning strategies, and associated impacts optimize portfolio composition through reuse, adoption of emerging technologies and reduction of architectural complexity (with Solutions teams).

What you have to offer:

 

Your experience and resume will show us:

 

  • An undergraduate or master’s degree in computer science or business.
  • 12+ years of experience, including leading the Enterprise Architecture function for a large enterprise (preferably in retail).
  • Extensive knowledge of IT Business Processes. 
  • Experience leading large scale, long-term enterprise project implementation, leading a large team with multi disciplines or matrix, and developing a strategic plan.
