The Strategy Lead is accountable for managing strategic projects across the business that are aligned with the current 3-year strategy and long-term company objectives.  

Job Description

Support Corporate strategy
• Work as part of the strategy team on internal strategic projects identified as critical to delivery of overall organization strategy
• Participate in conducting analysis on the industry / competitive landscape and key retail / consumer trends, developing a view on potential growth opportunities 
• Support in exploring inorganic growth opportunities, including M&A / partnerships 

Strategic project management
• Manage and deliver the assigned projects one time, on budget and with agreed upon scope and quality. 
• Builds relationships with Executives Stakeholders. Provides the single point of escalation and contact as it relates to the project.
• Manage stakeholder expectations and consult with various stakeholders to identify communication and change management needs and ensuring the team is brought along for the journey, bought into recommendations, and clear on execution path.
• Monitor stakeholder engagement and deliver mitigation strategies as necessary to ensure success
• Influence key decisions makers and obtain buy in behind recommendations, ensuring proposed plans are implemented and full impact is realized 
• Create an execution roadmap for recommendations, collaborating closely with working team, EPMO and Finance

Problem solving / analysis and insights
• Assist in articulating the problem statement and define a concise view of the target output
• Formulate hypotheses and identify analyses to prove / disprove
• Analyze data and identify trends/patterns – develop recommendations tied to these insights 
• Conduct qualitative research via internal stakeholder and external expert interviews

• Develop end to end presentations to present analyses and project update to various stakeholders groups, including working teams, steering committees, leadership meetings, etc.
• Prepare executive level materials to synthesize finding and secure approvals from key organization decision makers

Team development
• Oversee Strategy Specialists assigned to support on a given strategic project

Job Requirements

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Engineering
• 4-5 years experience with an in-house strategy function for a large, public organization 
• Strong business acumen in Retail, Food or Consumer Goods industries in Canada is a benefit
• Corporate development experience a benefit, but not required 
• High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power Point
• Significant experience in developing strategic plans
• Project management exposure
