Are you trailer/reefer mechanic thinking about relocating to Alberta? Consider bringing your skills to the Sobeys Retail Support Center in Edmonton. Sobeys has a fleet of more than 250 reefer trailers, tractors, and converters. We are currently seeking a mechanically minded individual to ensure our trailer fleet is running safely and efficiently.


Work Environment


  • Our shop is a small shop that services only Sobeys equipment. We have no mobile repair work.
  • Monday to Friday work, with full 8-hour shifts. Our morning shift is 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. The evening shift is 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM. There is a premium for evening shift.

Here’s where you’ll be focusing:

  • Respond to all equipment breakdowns in a timely manner;
  • Diagnose malfunctions and perform refrigeration repairs;
  • Ensure preventive maintenance inspections are completed according to company guidelines;
  • Perform general trailer repairs including brakes, suspension, electrical and basic mechanical repairs;
  • Complete Annual Commercial Vehicle Inspections to Alberta standards;
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, dispatchers and other transportation team members as required to schedule and complete repairs.



What you have to offer:

  • 310J Certificate of Qualification or other trade designation from another province
  • Trade Certification required during the interview process
  • 2 – 5 years work experience as a reefer/trailer mechanic
  • A minimum 2 years’ experience with trailer reefer equipment, preferably with ThermoKing reefers
  • Have your own tools
