Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities, and we are always looking for bright new talent to join our team! We currently have a 12 Month Term opening for a Senior Financial Analyst to support our Pharmacy & Liquor teams.

 

The preferred location for this position is Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. However, we may consider candidates available to work from Stellarton, NS; Mississauga, ON; or Calgary, AB.

 

The Senior Financial Analyst is a key role within the company, with responsibility for providing business decision support to the Finance Manager and Operations / Category Managers.  You will work in a highly collaborative environment, developing relationships and partnering with Finance Managers and Category Managers within Pharmacy and Liquor.

Here’s where you’ll be focusing:

  • Responsible for completing financial reporting requirements related to analysis of results actual vs. budget and prior year for review of results
  • Provide financial analysis and business decision support to the Finance Manager and Business/Operations Manager
  • Provide recommendations to improve functional areas processes
  • Assist in forecasting, targeting, and budgeting process
  • Develop proforma analysis
  • Communicate effectively with functional area managers and employees
  • Create and maintain budget and forecast templates
  • Perform account reconciliations and account analysis and communicate results to management
  • Adhere to GAAP and CEO/CFO Certification
  • Develop, manage and prepare various weekly and monthly reports in various systems including SAP, Khalix, BMR, BW, and Tableau
  • Ensure constant communication with Operations Lead
  • Complete analysis of exception reports to resolve discrepancies
  • Produce weekly and monthly financial reports to assist review of actual results, forecasts and budgets
  • Conduct ad hoc queries and analysis to support other financial analytic and category management teams as needed
  • Support financial planning and analysis for compliment of assigned sites/functions

What you have to offer:

  • An Undergraduate Degree with a Finance/Accounting focus and a minimum of 5 years of relevant Finance / Accounting experience 
  • Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) is preferred
  • Previous experience working with Retail, Operations, Category and Merchandising departments would be preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to build strong relationships as a business partner
  • Strong analytical skills, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office, Excel, Khalix, SAP, SAPBW, and Tableau
