Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities, and we are looking for top talent to join our team! We have a full-time opportunity for a External Affairs Specialist to join our Corporate Affairs team.

Here’s where you’ll be focusing:

  • Support all aspects of government relations function (including letter writing, reporting, and engagement support, liaison with trade associations, monitoring legislative and regulatory developments) 
  • Maintain and update communications materials (including national and provincial operations, issues briefs, website content and briefing documents)
  • Support on emerging issues
  • Corporate Affairs support of store grand opening and reopening events
  • Contribute to corporate awards submissions 
  • Support all aspects of team execution of the corporate strategy
     

What you have to offer:

  • A post-secondary education combined with 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably in a corporate environment
  • Excellent writing skills including the ability to craft clear and persuasive copy (key messages, government letters, online copy) for a variety of communication channels 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
  • Resourcefulness and a self-starter with excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to analyze complex situations and determine the appropriate action and response

  • Detail-oriented with a careful and thoughtful approach to tasks

  • Ability to build relationships with key internal stakeholders

  • Bilingual (French-English) would be considered an asset. The candidate might be expected to work with peers in other provinces in the development, development and implementation of tools and processes across Canada, as well as provide support to Sobeys employees across Canada
