Overview

Safeway has an amazing part-time opportunity ideal for an International Pharmacy Graduate currently in the process of obtaining their Pharmacy license in British Columbia. This unique learning opportunity will allow the Pharmacist Intern to experience the technical side of Community Pharmacy. In this role the Pharmacist Intern will be exposed to automation technology for blister packing, vial auto-refilling and pouch packs for Long Term Care sites. Along with data entry of compound prescriptions into Kroll, the Pharmacist Intern will also work in our compounding lab making complex compounds of creams and capsules for our network of retail stores. The Pharmacist Intern will gain a progressive learning experience in several aspects of pharmacy operations and administration. Actively contributes to an environment of employee engagement.

Job Description

• Professional pharmacy activities appropriate to level of education
• Prescription Assembly – Data Entry
• Answer Phones
• Compounding
• Blister Pack Assembly
• Ordering and replenishing supplies, cleaning
• Drug order creation and receiving
• Adhere to and implement all applicable company standards
• Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Technical Skills:
• Above average communication skills (both oral and written)
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
• Ability to be self-directed and to work independently in meeting strict deadlines will be essential.
Education and Experience:
• Enrollment in Pharmacy program from a recognized institution.
• Previous pharmacy experience is preferred.
