This Part Time position will be split between the dispensary at Lawtons # 144 and the upcoming primary clinic.

The Pharmacy Administration Assistant is responsible for providing superior customer service in a friendly, knowledgeable and professional manner. The Pharmacy Administration Assistant (PAA) is a link between providers and patients as well as assisting the nurse practitioner and pharmacist with a variety of tasks. The PAA’s ability to successfully complete a complex array of administrative and technical tasks relating to the job is critical to providing a high standard of care to our patient population.

Here’s where you’ll be focusing:

  • Responding to patient inquiries face to face, on the telephone, and virtually.
  • Identifying patient needs at first point of contact and directing them to services as appropriate.
  • Assisting patients and staff with the completion of forms and other documents.
  • Scheduling and management of appointments including office appointments, procedures, group appointments, multi-provider appointments and specialist clinic appointments.
  • Using internal messaging, report generating and task management tools within electronic patients record.
  • Document management including prioritization of documents for review, preparation of chart copies, faxing, uploading of documents to patient health record, verifying documents and disposition of records
  • Performing various aspects of physician billing including; provincial billing (MSI), third party billing, group billing, non-insured services billing, creating and modify billing bundles and generating billing reports
  • Ordering, distributing and receiving of medical, office, and prescription supplies as well as prescription and behind the counter drugs and other equipment, as required.
  • Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
  • Prescription data entry and preparation
  • Process customer transactions (receive and release prescriptions as required)
  • Compounding as required
  • Administrative Duties such as: cycle counts, narcotic counts, return to stocks, TML’s, manual third parties as needed
  • Management of cash functions including end of day reports.
  • Assist with other pharmacy clinic operations as required

Preferred:

  • Previous pharmacy experience and/or medical clinic experience
  • Experience with Lawtons Drugs/Sobeys Pharmacy systems (i.e.Kroll, POS).
  • Experience with electronic patient records such as (but not limited to) MedAccess preferred 
  • Experience with electronic communication (including but not limited to) Microsoft Word and Excel 

 
Education and Experience:

Required:

  • High School Diploma

 

Preferred:

  • Undergraduate degree, Pharmacy Technology Certificate or other Pharmacy recognized program
