Registered Pharmacy Technician - Central Fill (FT)

The Registered Pharmacy Technician position is a regulated position that requires the individual to be licensed with the provincial college of pharmacy. In addition to all duties that can be performed by a pharmacy assistant, the RPT is able to conduct some restricted activities under the indirect supervision of a pharmacist. The authorized duties of the technician are limited by legal restrictions imposed by individual Provincial Pharmacy Regulatory Bodies.

The ideal candidate will be able to accurately and efficiently check prescription requests in an automated refill setting. The Pharmacy Technician maintains continuous, consistent work flow in order to meet daily production goals; and has the ability to work productively either independently or as a team. The RPT will be involved in monitoring and adapting workflow as we expand our central fill operation to include blister packs, vial filling, and compounding. They will be involved in helping to plan and manage new workflows to determine what our workflow looks like and how it should be run and organized.

Here’s where you’ll be focusing:

RPT’s will have independent authority, responsibility and liability (required by legislation to have liability insurance) to prepare and process prescriptions including:

• Verify compliance packs prepared to ensure accuracy and completeness of all prescription orders prior to delivery

• Operate and maintain the Vandenbrink Blister Packaging Machine® (VBM) used to generate and produce weekly compliance packs for our stores

• Operate and maintain the Script Pro Machine used to generate and produce daily prescriptions fills for our stores.

• Prepare and package medications for delivery

• Verify each package accurately and thoroughly

• Ensure proper storage, handling, disposal of drugs and return to stock procedure in accordance with SOPs

• Other duties as required
