Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities, and we are always looking for bright new talent to join our team! We currently have an opportunity as a Analyst, benefits. Please note that this position is a term contract. 

Here’s where you’ll be focusing:

  • Conduct analyses on benefits programs including competitive market analysis, cost/ benefit analysis, regulatory compliance, and organizational/ financial impact
  • Ensure compliance with benefit legislation including education of Human Resources, payroll, and benefits staff about legislative requirements and updates
  • Act as a resource to regions and National Human Resource Services with respect to problem resolution
  • Provide support during labour negotiations by providing benefit plan costing
  • Ensure benefits eligibility and procedures are administered according to the appropriate contracts and plan texts
  • Conduct external benchmarking of plan best practices through surveys and other sources of information and make recommendation for competitive market positioning
  • Compile financial statistics and claims analysis related to the benefits and relocation programs
  • Prepare regular reports to management with recommendations where appropriate
  • Conduct regular audits of the benefits and relocation programs to ensure data integrity and good governance
  • Investigate discrepancies and make recommendations to resolve any issues
  • Run various reports to validate benefit deduction file accuracy
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment as per company requirements
  • Franchise Remittances for Franchise Group (every 5th of the month)
  • Backup files by store, cost per line benefits (for Ceridian stores, Stores on MBC, Telus health EFAP)
  • Franchise conversions/onboards – bi-weekly conversation calls. (waves of conversions may require additional efforts and work capacity)

What you have to offer:

  • An Undergraduate Degree
  • A minimum of 2 years relevant experience  in employee benefits 
  • Extensive knowledge of current legislation as it relates to employee  benefits
  • CEBS, GBA, or CHRP Designation
  • Bilingual, English / French considered an asset (The candidate will be expected to work with peers in other provinces in the development, development and implementation of tools and processes across Canada, as well as provide support to Sobeys employees across Canada)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Superior analytical and mathematical skills
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel
